skin

as thin as the edge of a dime-
Conglomeration of sensations synthesize.
Twenty two square ft-
pain, motion, protection, heat,
Never as enlivened as when we meet.

External sensation commingled with thought-
Internal fantasy, flush overwrought!
Trepidation contemplation attention besought
Focused awareness practiced or fraught.

Cells shedding rebuild anew
Hair like lightning rod quivering through
By the slightest glimpse from you-

Curiosity of brain becoming
Exultation of skin-
Anticipation of delight
Balanced by
Fear of chagrin.

Encompassed
Enrobed
Enlightened
Enamored-
I have no choice but to be well-mannered.
